on Feb. 7th Isabella turned 3 - now I've gotten her a pet fish (spike) and we became aunts to 3 robins this past summer - both of these events I'll write more about soon but today - I think I almost gave her a heart attack. This was not my first choice for her gift. Today the 9th (my birthday) Isabella had to go to her Doctor to have her nails done (clipped, I know how bad I am!), now I love Dr. Susan, she & the Kindness Hospital in Osippee NH not only have a wonderful reputation but it is well deserved. Isabella also once loved both of them. Not anymore, she turns into a nightmare I almost don't recognize. Today the assistants were pretending to draw straws for who would have be with making me smile as I know despite Isabella's awful behavior every one of them would do anything needed to keep her healthy, wealthy & wise. While we were in the waiting room I heard a strange noise coming from Isabella's carrier almost as though she were digging. I keep a soft, fleece mat in the bottom of her heavy plastic carrier and when I peeked in she was burrowing under her mat, obviously desperate to hid. Poor Isabella she was unable to avoid her fate, one would think she was being drawn & quartered. Needing only her front paws done she was quickly back in our car where I opened the door to her carrier. Now Isabella likes riding in the car, since I take her everywhere this is a good thing, and she usually lays on the backseat beside her carrier. On visits from the vet she stays in the carrier because when I glance back to see if she's alright she can give me that squinty evil eyed look that says you do not have long to live look. (I get that look often!) So since she seemed to be calming done and since my car looked like I'd been riding in mud I thought I'll stop at the car wash. Isabella's been with me before when she was in a better mood, she sat up front even trying to stand to watch the water & large rollers. This was not the day for a car wash. The minute the water started I heard a thump & Isabella jumped out of the carrier and headed for parts unknown. When I arrived home, I found her hidden deep under my seat. After about 15 minutes of useless coaxing I finally thought she doesn't know where she is, so with the garage opener in one hand and the car door open so she'd see the light I opened the garage. I don't know if it was the garage door opening up, my rapidly running out patience or simply she thought I'd been punished enough. After all first I bring her to an S&M site then I scared at least one if not two of her lives out of her at God only knows what sort of place that was - for her it may have been simply payback. Just another day in my life with Isabella.

KATO - a live and well!
Does anyone remember The Pink Panther with Peter Sellers? his manservant Kato would jump out & attack to keep him sharp - I think Isabella has seen one too many of those movies - over the last couple of years she has done this more than once - she seems to know when I've forgotten the last time ( have mentioned that I know she is smarter than I am ? ) -last night while speaking on the phone with my wonderful Mom (oh I walk while I talk) I walked down the corridor by the open bathroom door into the living room perhaps about 6 or 7 steps when suddenly I screamed so loud my Mom thought someone had broken in! - in truth what had happened was simply Isabella - in perfect Kato fashion she had attacked - by throwing both front paws around my leg and holding on for dear life, then after Mom & I had said our good nights - I spent a good half hour or more walking backwards around the house saying no - no no Isabella as she paced me staring eagerly at my legs letting me know she was not done by a long shot with this game!

I needed a clapper! as in clap on, clap off
It has been almost 2 years since I've last posted - yikes they were more difficult years for me than I had thought, ah well.
Life goes on and so does my love affair with Isabella,of course. The other night she & I had so much fun
(? hmmm). I was exhausted so went to bed early & of course she joined me. She (with the extra sensitive hearing) kept jumping up startled and would stare off in one direction or another. Now sometimes it was simply she would hear the furnace about to turn on and when it did I would relax. On many other occasions I am not sure what it was so off I'd go in the direction she was looking with her always behind me (she does love to be the director behind the scenes) - I would flip on lights in rooms as we passed through & of course front porch lights and back deck lights and the I would reverse this process - this continued most of the night as I even started to hear things (possible invasions into our home! yikes) It wasn't till well past 3:00 a.m. that it dawned on this very hard marblehead, that I realized it as well as being quite cold up in in the lakes region of NH it was also windy as all get out! Isabella had convinced me to be flashing lights on and off all night in order for her to sucsessfully catch this evildoer(the wind) in action! Meantime up in the spacestation, if they had looked down it appeared as if one home in Wolfeboro NH - Oldest Vacation Resort in America - was attempting to send bizarre signals to Mars or some other distant life form.
Oh yes the end results of all these shenanigans was I ended up awake all night and well yes, you guessed it Isabella managed many "cat" naps in between our sojourns!
and so goes another day in my life with Isabella
